cellular Venice

across scales

tourist infrastructures/human tides

economic "metabolism" of tourism at the city scale and the formal "living fossil" quality of the city itself/its buildings

incoming current

outgoing current

metabolism of tides at the city scale -- sewer system synchronized w/ daily tidal currents

monastery model

This is basically a "game board" version of an abandoned Island in the Venice Lagoon! The Rule of St. Benedict = the rules of the game. The "game pieces" (imagined monks) are threads, which wind through the daily routines of the monastery. Different rules create different parameters for social organization, weaving different spatial patterns.
